Bio
Douglas Stenhouse has worked in the photography world for over 3 decades. He formed Funky Foto in 2004 and after a chance meeting with a dance competition promoter, he entered into the world of freestyle dance photography. Using fast digital cameras, he quickly became known for amazing dance action shots of the competitors on the dance floor. He now attends over 40 events each year.
Born in Edinburgh, he moved to Altrincham, Manchester after leaving photographic college. Father of 3 children and even at his grand old age believes one day he will still play football for Scotland.
"Dance is my world. I love creating images with these multi-talented people and bounce off their energy and talent. All my work is collaboration and without the dancers, the choreographers, the event promoters and most of all the parents and guardians, I couldn't create the images seen on the website. If this encourages one more boy to begin his dance journey or persuades one more boy dancer to continue when times get tough, it will have been worthwhile.
They Escape to Dance exhibition is just the start in what I hope will be a larger more encompassing project involving boys for all genres of dance."
